HMRC not entitled to discovery assessment

It's good to see that HMRC's attempted power-grab does occasionally reach limits...
HMRC will not simply be able to open a discovery assessment if an investigation opportunity has fallen out of the 12-month window, according to an upper tribunal ruling.

          Excellent.

          Can you let Whitehouse know.

A few people have PM'd me asking when they will be able to do something to support the amendment.

I know some of you are raring to go but just sit tight for the moment. Whitehouse will be sending something out shortly.

The debate is 5 weeks away so there's still plenty of time.

            Thanks
            DR

              Hi all,

I recently received a 5 page letter from Gauke refuting all of the issues that have been raised by my MP. My MP has since told me that there is nothing more he can do to support but I'm keen to go back and challenge again. Today's NTRT newsletter made reference to another tool kit but I can't find it on the NTRT site. Can somebody point my in the right direction of what the follow up action should be ?

              thanks !

Same letter as the one several others have already received, including me. The only difference is the <insert name here>.

                  He doesn't hold surgeries?

Is there a body you can complain to that your MP refuses to meet you or are they totally autonomous on such issues?

Who the hell does this MP think he is?

                    You could try writing to/contacting:-

                      Following on from yesterday's newsletter.

There will be another email sent out either today or Monday, with specific guidance on lobbying your MP to support the amendment.

                      Regards
