Buns in the office, a new visual display device, these are allowable. Just like an iPod (for R&D). Or a DVD player (also R&D). etc.
This is tongue in cheek I presume?

No, it really isn't. Don't open up with both barrels, but I'd be interested in your comments.

e.g. I visit many clients, they have TVs in reception, tuned to news or somesuch. The cost of the TV is a business expense.
If you develop apps for iPod, or plan to, yourco needs one for testing.
Into video production? Or thinking about it? You'll need a DVD player to make sure the disks you author work properly.

Yep agree they are all valid though would question why a 1 man band needs to put a TV up for customers but anyway.

The way you put it was one of those 'I am sure I can justify it to myself' threads we get from time to time. Yes if it central to your business it is indeed a business expense. The thing that threw me is you put iPod when I think you meant iPad. I thought listening to music to relax was R&D

Not if it's genuine R&D. e.g. I'm learning iPad development so I 100% require an iPad for that.

Indeed but he did mention iPod not iPad which threw me.

You can develop apps for the newer iPods too - they are basically an iPhone without the phone.

I said iPod, I meant iPod (as d000hg says, they're basically iPhones these days). iPad would have been a clearer example.

I presume if the membership is used for purchases that are wholly and exclusively for the benefit of the business then there should be no issue. If you are doing a personal monthly shop while there as well, then probably not.

The wife and I go to CostCo once a month, Sainsbury's website on her phone and Tesco on mine, usually there for special offers from the monthly magazine.

Can highly recommend their angus steak burgers, they are SUPERB.

Last time I bought dishwasher tablets was 18 months ago and still a couple of month worth left.
As has been said before not the cheapest but can get some good deals, 30 cans of coke for £6, 184 dishwasher tablets for £10, Loo roll offers for 40ish rolls.

Eggs are better than normal supermarkets. Quality is pretty good in general and they have an in-house baker and butcher on site at Chingford.

Bl00dy H3ll do I sound like some supermarket saddo

WARNING - Huge catering style packs of Haribou etc are bad for your figure.

Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.

You need to go out more... and NOT to CostCo
