    HMRC Gateway Maintenance

Just received this from Sage, nice to know that HMRC chose the best time of the year in order to do this. You know. At the end / start of the tax year. What could possibly be going at that time? Gross incompetence springs to mind.

    HMRC Gateway scheduled upgrade 3 - 13 April 2012

HMRC have recently notified us of their scheduled upgrade times during this payroll year end period, and as a result, we strongly recommend that you wait until 14 April or later to make your submission.

If you submit your year end returns between 6pm Tuesday 3 April and 6pm Friday 13 April your online submission acknowledgement will be delayed. You will not receive your acknowledgement from HMRC until Friday 13 April.

We strongly recommend that you wait until 14 April or later to make your submission. This ensures that you will receive a full acknowledgement from HMRC and Sage Payroll can provide and display your unique correlation ID number for your successful submission.

    That sure is rubbish timing,

It's not the first time - fairly sure the same thing happened last year or the year before and it definitely happened the first year on-line filing was brought in; there was a system overload - the recorded message was 'your call is important to us and will be answered in......23 hours 14 minutes'

New rules/legislation/ways to screw you over come into effect on the 6th April. I'd imagine this years is pretty major, so they take everything offline whilst the systems are deployed / tested followed by a CGL.

          Makes sense really.
