I prefer companies I invest in to have a boss that cares about the bottom line and shareholder return. Basic investing principle.. -
Like Dante and I said, we disagree with that opinion.Originally posted by badger7579 View PostI prefer companies I invest in to have a boss that cares about the bottom line and shareholder return. Basic investing principle..Comment

Cos everyone's pretty bored of it - & the constant ridiculous changes (soon you'll need to go on a facebook course to use it) even if numbers are growing usage is declining - would love to know the % of dormant accounts or frequency of use.Originally posted by administrator View PostWhat makes you think the site would be in decline? Even my older relatives are now opening accounts. I can only see usage growing.
I mentioned Friends Reunited cos they started the ball rolling.
There's no real alternative to Facebook atm - soon as there is - their finished! The 'olds' soon give up with it! & actually even tho their old they see it with fresh eyes for the pile of rubbish it is now!Comment

FB often post user stats. They went from 200m to 500m in a year. FB is THE social network and kids are certainly not getting bored of it, it's becoming a core part of how they communicate.
There was a report recently that FB now has more traffic than Google in the UK, IIRC.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

People are very bored, have little/no money, cant afford to go anywhere/do anything - so become curtain twitchers!Originally posted by d000hg View PostFB often post user stats. Kids are bored - in general - not surprising with no real future to aim for - they might as well waste their time on it - better than hanging about at shops!Comment

It's both arrogant and totally foolish to think that everyone else shares your view of FB. You might not think it's worthwhile, and I don't like it either - but that's irrelevant to what the data actually shows. Which is that FB are planning to IPO with a valuation of $100bn, and that Google are spending probably $hundreds of millions to try and get a slice of the market.
Even if it is a fad, that doesn't mean buying is a bad idea - simply make sure you keep a close watch for the time to sell.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

I dont think everyone else shares my view - just how I see it - I just think in 5 yrs it will be a dim memory (like friends reunited) as the next best thing will be up & running - personally I use it but think its been ruined - the concept is overloaded & lost.Comment

Did you think the same 5 years ago? If so, that just shows how massively, totally, unambiguously wrong you can beOriginally posted by KittyCat View PostI just think in 5 yrs it will be a dim memory
