    Nixon Williams increase rates

I'm not getting a rate rise.

Can anyone recommend an accountant who charges less than £95+VAT a month for doing a couple of quick calculations?
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Which is all I want from an accountant when they're cheap, not sure what extra I'm getting for the increase?

They're just keeping up with the rest. If you want to penny-pinch a bit, I recommend InTouch (£85pcm - just just raised from £75 so you should be safe a while) who are normally mentioned alongside NW on CUK as a good option. I'm happy to take your referral bonus, but I'd recommend them anyway.

When I was looking, I considered NW, InTouch and one other who were only £65 but now I can't remember them since I figured £10 more a month was worth it.

Yeah £20+VAT a month extra (27%) is more than just inflationary pressure! (the reason stated for the increase) However, mine is deferred for a while...

I wouldn't mind if they did something extra for it... what extra above 'the bare minimum', as you say, would you want them to be doing?
It's about time I changed this sig...

I had my letter as well, no-one likes paying than they did in the past, but looking at what everyone else charges they are still priced quite well.

I think that they should perhaps have small increases each year rather than a catch up every few years. I think Intouch have said they will review theirs each September, so no doubt they will be at £95 this time next year.
"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." Cicero

Rather than looking at what they do on a typical-month basis, I think you have to look at the overall service supplied over the course of a full year. They do provide an extremely complete & comprehensive service including all form filing & PTR completion/submission. Remember that any increase is tax deductable & so in real terms will effectively be less than the amount quoted.

Whilst we will review fees each year we've certainly not decided to just increase by any set level, it's more likely to just be in line with inflation. We're also increasing the capability of our portal, so clients will see improvements as we develop further.

I use a local accountant called Parkinsons (Parkinsons Accountants | Manchester Accountants | Leeds Accountants | Sheffield Accountants | London Accountants), the chap is nice, happy to answer any questions you have. I do my book keeping he just does all my form filling/end of year accounts, i pay him £48.50/month inc VAT.

He also does remote desktop sharing so you can go through your accounts online over the phone without needing to travel to the office, which i found very useful.

I also have some lady through him that does all my PAYE stuff and i pay her £10/month(Home - Payroll Processing services from payrollshop)
