Accountant recommendation threads inc local requests

I am looking to move away from SJD. Too many costly mistakes.

Regarding Gorilla, I note that the do not have any offices in London, whereas I am based in London.

Will that matter ?

Nope. I've never been to my accountant in 7 years. I was with SJD before I went to Gorilla as well. No mailing spreadsheets backwards either because they use Freeagent. They do a quarterly review when they do the VAT as well.

Why not try Tulip Smart Grope. With Gorilla you have to pay additional fees. Whereas with Tulip Smart Grope its one fixed fee covers all.

I believe this thread is for recommendations from satisfied customers (ideally with post counts higher than about 3), not for accountants to recommend themselves.

I have always used a local accountant who is not one of the big players that a lot of people of this forum use. They though also specialise in IT contractors, yet offer the local presence and personal feel that I am comfortable with.

As a matter of fact I do. They just "fired" me (letter of disengagement) as a client after only 3 months because I had the audacity to suggest they should encrypt payslips when emailing them. It wasn't even a complaint, just a single "I am disappointed" email, offer constructive feedback on how it would improve privacy and security for their clients.

So my suggestion - stay away from them unless you want the hassle of searching for a new accountant shortly after this search.
