    Difference between Limited and Ltd?

    Hi,
From the legal/contract standpoint, is there a difference between ABC Limited or ABC Ltd?

If the company has been registered as ABC Limited, can we use "ABC Ltd" on documents such as VAT returns etc.

    Ta.

Ltd is just shorthand for Limited. There is no legal difference.

      Ta.
If you register using the full "LIMITED" then you can choose to either use the full or abbreviated version on documents and forms etc.

If your company has been formed with just "LTD" then that is all you can use, you cannot use the full word.

We form all our clients with the full word to prevent any problems in the future.

Thanks Alan (I didn't realise that since mine's Limited)

Really? I mean, you can't have two companies registered, one called "Contractor LTD" and one called "Contractor Limited" as they are the same name so why can't you use the long and short form of the name interchangeably.
