    Noob alert!! some advice please!

    Hi all this is my first post and not knowing to much about the the ins and out of running a ltd company, hopefully this is were you guys come in

    I have a limited company I am a director and shareholder of the company and employee of my company paying myself minimum wage. As I understand it.
    I currently work for a company on a permanent full time basis who I invoice for hours worked.

    So when coming to fill out forms etc do I class my self as employed or self-employed?

    This will be all for now. Lets see where this takes me.

    Hi Wayne,

    If you pay yourself a wage from your company, then you're "employed" by your company. You can also add that you're director of your company too but technically you're employed. To be self employed, you would be registered as a sole trader. However, depending on who you speak to and their interpretation e.g. mortgage lenders or agencies, they may view "self employed" as director owned companies.

      Unfortuantely this isn't quite right. You are now a director of a LTD so have financial and legal obligations to do it right so it is up to YOU to investigate, learn and run your company properly. We can offer conflicting advice ranging from utter tulip to very useful but it's free and should be taken as such.

      Make sure you get a good accountant (plenty of recommendation threads on here) and lean on him for advice. You are paying him so use him. If you are not 100 per cent with what he says then check so you are happy.
