    HMRC Letters

    All,

To those who have replied on this - many thanks. Can everyone please look back for the same?

Date, Address and Signatory of a letter asking you to be bound by a Commissioners / Court ruling
HMRC office from where this was sent
Make a scanned copy of it (redact you personal details as needed)
    File it!
Check if the date of dispatch was after 20th October 2007 - I have been asked if dates before are an issue. Nope. Actually a span of dates will help but needs to be supported by evidence if needed hence the redaction point. But any that fall within a send date of 20 Oct or later and better still, the 1st November 2007 or later the better.

I appreciate that many read this thread but do not post. In any event, please check your HMRC correspondance for date stamps of letters stating the request to be bound by a ruling of the Commissioners (Tax Courts) on the matter. Note the HMRC office that sent it, the date and HMRC official behind it. Scan it, copy it and retain it. Also let me know via PM the same.

    Many thanks.

This is good as lately most people got reply from DG so it should be interesting to get a reply from GO. However, I want to write to my MP to also consider GO's double stance on telling Indian Govmt not to use 'clarification' and go 'retrospective' whereas he is doing exactly the same at home!

Can someone give me pointers on exactly how/what to write to my MP, please? I think it needs to be a very brief as they do not have good concentration span! May be someone can PM me.

      Thanks
My MP wrote to GO but I received a reply from David Gauke instead after redirection. Just making you aware that this may happen.
Btw - reply was standard stuff already mentioned previously on here.

However, I'd hang on for a day or so and see what can be done to support you with your MP. After all, one thing ultimately is for sure, they cannot ignore you. But I do have consideration for their workloads. I know as fact that even when they really want to keep you up to date, it's not as simple as a quick BB reply from them to you. So if after a couple of weeks you have zero, then a message to their caseworker if they have one and failing that then an email to arrange a meeting at their surgery. I suggest that you ask for more than the default of 15 minutes. But as I suggest, let the weekend come and go and then we can all re-group as how best to address the MP issue.

Should have added: Would you want to respond to the most awkward set of points ever put before you out of choice?
thanks for this.. and re the added point no probably not.. but the funny things if i read the "tweets" over the last couple of weeks theres an element of hole digging going on.. opinion human rights.. retrospective tax etc

I've arranged a meeting with mine on May 12th, a bit of a while off but would be good to send him some kind of "pack" detailing the points I want to raise. He's already replied saying he would write to the usual but I never did get anything back from that, thus the request for a meeting. His initial letter was promising.
