Umbrella company paid wages to wrong account!

Not sure if this is the right forum for this topic, but was hoping someone knew where I stand

My umbrella company has paid my weekly wage into the wrong account. It has used an account that I stopped using over two years ago when it fell into default over a problem I was having with the bank. I have no access to this account, as it has been passed over for debt collection, but the details surrounding that are not what I am here for.

My umbrella has been using my correct bank details flawlessly up till now, albeit I had a break for a year with them and this is my first contract for a while. I have no idea how they got it to use the old one, as all payslips for two years have been to the new account!

They were closed by the time I realised the error, but I am seriously worried they are going to screw me and leave me out of pocket!

    What can I do?

    Thank You

    Hi b1gdeano

It is likely that this bank account has been frozen - if this is the case then the money should automatically bounce back to the umbrella company's account within about 3-5 day - they will then be able to reprocess the payment to the correct account and will probably reimburse your fees as a gesture of goodwill (well that's what I would do anyway )

Just to update and end the thread

Spoke with Umbrella company, and they have investigated and the error was due to a new staff member using old registration info to action new contract.

They have stated they will make a new payment to the correct account today, thereby restoring my faith in them!

So a happy ending after a night/morning of stress!

Name and praise then. (Makes a difference from the usual name and shame.)

WHS, they acted in your interest there so deserve the credit.
Some companies would have prevaricated for ages and insisted you sort it out.
