Flat Rate VAT and buying hardware

    Hello

I'm on the Flat Rate VAT scheme and want to buy some hardware from ebay (less than £2000 worth). The seller's are often individuals and don't charge VAT or offer VAT receipts.

Are there any VAT implications for me here? Can I simply buy the goods on my personal credit card and then claim it as an expense from MyCo? With printed emails etc kept as receipts.

    What do you think?

    Thanks

IANAA, but as I userstand it if it's less than £2000 you cant claim the VAT back anyway so there is no need for a VAT receipt. You still need receipts as proof of purchase to claim it as a business expense but there should'nt be any VAT hassles.

Of course if you do it right and pay *just* over £2000 for it and can get a VAT receipt then you can claim the VAT on it and it works out cheaper than if it were just less than £2000

    YMMV, HtH.
