    IMS "Income Made Simple"

Hi, while taking my first steps into the heady world of Contracting, I've had various bits of advice about umbrellas/llc etc.

However, the bit of advice I've got most about running a LLC, if I do, is to get an accountant, and this company hit my radar: imsinteractive.com

It seems like a fairly good option, but has anyone heard anything good or otherwise about them?

Do you mean LLC? Isn't that a USA thing?

In the UK contractors use a limited company (Ltd). The UK equivalent of a USA LLC is a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) which the likes of accountants and solicitors use.

Anyway, don't use an umbrella unless you only want to do one short contract. Go straight to using a Ltd company.

The relevant bit on their web site is: http://www.imsinteractive.com/pages/step_2_company.asp specifically "Private limited companies"

What made you come across them? (Or are you merely raising the question as an advertisement for them?)

On the right ----> you will see lots of helpful links, by the way,.

Can't say I have ever heard of them.....

At £35+VAT per week this is quite an expensive service, over twice what I pay with Nixon Williams.

People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." Cicero

£35 per week is a very expensive service.

You can get good accountants for less than that.

I do mean LLP. For some reason I typed LLC.

The relevant bit on their web site is: IMS - Limited Company - Sole Trader - Partnership - Limited Liability Partnership - Agency worker - Umbrella worker - Self employed contractor - Limited Company specifically "Private limited companies"

One of the people at one of the companies I'm talking to about contracts is on a kickback if he recommends people to them. I'm not automatically opposed to other people making money like that, but I was just wondering if anyone else had tripped over them.

Yup, thanks, I've been reading though them.
