Thank you both this is giving me the confidence to deal with the matter.

But you are correct I worked there around 7 weeks.

The last 2 invoices are the ones being disputed on quality of code, which considering the simplicity of the website is very odd.

No review took place while there, where had they raised any issue, I would've had the opportunity to correct/implement anything they wanted.

I've checked the website too and it is live, and look 99% exactly the same. Obviously before I left it was tested and nothing said.

I wasn't also working to any code guidelines/standards that they provided me.

I shall see whether the recruiter can prove I have opted out and if not proceed down the route which provides me protection having been opted in.

I shall update this post as necessary so maybe others can benefit in the future from my experience.

As an update I didnt threaten any legal action of the sort.

Simply asked the agency to provide a reason they didnt want to pay me

They must've asked around and gotten nothing of value so decided to close the issue.

I *should* get my final invoice this week, last previous already being paid a week ago

Good work! Now send them a bill for interest and penalties once they have paid.

And when they don't pay it, chase them up again. Then get a statutary notification, then apply for a winding up order.

Though, tbh, I'd invoice them for the admin and interest, quoting the relevant late payment law, just on the off chance they pay it - and then forget about it.
