I fear we would be met with some nonsense like "whilst I am sympathetic to the principle of the situation, unfortunately it would not be appropriate for me to interfere with an ongoing legal case"

This is of course a risk but this shouldn't stop us trying. If nothing else, it wouldn't hurt to remind the likes of Osborne and Cable that this issue hasn't gone away.

The EU are running a consultation on double taxation. Wonder what sparked that off?

An interesting quote ....

We want to obtain a picture of the real size of the problem and of its financial impact. In a case where the double taxation has been eliminated after your appeal to tax authorities, we would also like to know how long it has taken for this to happen. You are also invited to provide any suggestions you might have for ways in which the different cases of double taxation in the EU could be avoided.


Why would they be interested in how long appeals take ??????
