first time poster on here, just wanted to say I've been following the case with interest, and to wish everybody involved the best of luck for the future. This doesn't look over by a long way, and sooner or later somebody sane will decide that the retrospective action really isn't fair. I hope.

        Give us a break!

I was on a dodgy deal and got busted but at least I'm prepared be honest about it!

It's been well known by all Contractors for decades that shovelling most of your dough off-shore is something only banks can get away with.

Your Lawyer knew he had already lost the case from the start.

The difference being our arrangements were legal, at least the German authorities didnt try to rewrite history.

              David Cameron

David Cameron is on the record as being opposed to retrospective taxation in at least one case: http://www.conservatives.com/News/Ne...ndustries.aspx.
He would be a good champion for our cause if we could get him on side...

                Avoidance is legal.

There are a large number of IR35 avoidance schemes available and I attended presentations by several promoters back in 2001. I chose one which operated a policy of full disclosure on my tax return, confident that no one could claim that my scheme was "dodgy". Several promoters were pushing lightly disguised evasion strategies. In fact HMRC have largely ignored the dodgy schemes while pursuing our legal and fully disclosed arrangements. Maybe your scheme was not legal ? Mine was legal and we still have a good case to present to a higher court.

Edelweiss - sorry you lost out.

Lets not start any spats in this forum, especially since it is all too easy to be provoked into a rash response to someone who could be just poking us with a stick until someone bites.

You sound like the exact target market for the promoters of a schemes that do not work
