that is exactly what I fear - having been owed before and it taking years to get back. Believe me, I have no faith that HMRC will ever act in anyone's interest but their own, which is why I am stuck in terms of knowing what to do next.

For me this means pay nothing while the inevitable appeals to higher jurisdiction are resolved. It's just that it's us appealing not HMRC. There are no other differences.Comment

May 6 - Hope from the conservatives?
Was there any previous comments around what the Conservatives would do about this? Is this another line of attack that becomes more pertinent with the likelihood of the May 6 result. Could this go away in the 2010 finance bill?
It's just another step, yes disappointing but I'm sticking with the programme and letting MTM do their stuff. The longer this takes the easier the pill will be to swallow if the time ever comes to cough-up
BTW, I was there this morning, huge turnout, nice blonde at the front to take some of the pain away, NuffSaid's tongue is still hurting where I trod on it!Comment

This is not a crisis. Panicking and bouncing off walls for the next few hours will only take you back to where you started.
The JR was not the start nor the end of this. Yes, it may all sound doom and gloom but consider this:
There will be an appeal
There will be an appeal to hold off on collection
They cannot just turn up, take the lot and leave you on the street - that IS a breach of your Human Rights
Bankruptcy takes time. Application to a court, 12 months before the Order can be invoked.
The JR was about Human Rights. This is not the only point of contention and never was. There are other hearings related to BN66 going on (March??).
This is a time to re-group, focus and take a moment for the next steps to be architected. I suggest we take a moment to pause, stop turning inwards, having a go at MTM, claiming the Judge was got at and all the other negatives.
I know it's numbing and very scarey at the moment, but nobody ever survived a crisis by whipping it up further.
There are plans afoot. Remain focussed. Have faith.
For the sake of those who have put so much into this campaign, don't do them the injustice of running scared, finger pointing or otherwise pull this community apart at the seams.Comment

Once you pay up to the likes of HMRC getting it back could easily take many more years.
But, warning if you do decide to pay up (not CTD) you unlikely to get it back should we win as your case will be closed and they will not re-open it.Comment

Well, its not the end of the road, it was never going to be. It would have been good to have been ahead, but it was wishful thinking to think we would have come out of today with a clean and comprehensive victory.
I've had my coffee, I've had some reflection. On we go.
Ding ding, seconds out ...Comment
