    HMRC Special Investigations Song

Performed here by Brannigan and MacDougall, with special guest appearance from none other than Stephen Timms himself.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAYLD06MefI

    We're busy doin' nothin'
    Workin' the whole day through
Tryin' to find lots of things not to do
    We're busy goin' nowhere
    Isn't it just a crime
We'd like to be ashamed, but
We never do have the time

Time to post what you think of HMRC

            Hi all,

HMRC have posted a video on YouTube. In it, (Dave Hartnett who's hair looks like a dead gerbil sitting on his head) encourages UK citizens to disclose offshore bank accounts.

So if you want to say anything on BN66 or otherwise, now is your chance to post a comment.

Oh, and dont forget to rate the video. "Poor" was the lowest option I could find

Something is wrong here. I had to watch it a couple of times before I spotted it. Dave is an alien! Look how big his hands are compared to the size of his head. His whole frame is out of proportion. This is not a human. The nostrils are that of a manatee and his head was stuck on at an angle. Mind you, what this alien said sounds like science fiction anyway...

Oh dear, Dave better start declaring HMRC's own accounts then. Back in 2001 Gordon Brown solicited the selling of HMRC leaseholds to one Mapeley Group who are registered in....BERMUDA! Yep, HMRC have their leasehold assets held by an offshore business. Better still, the Treasury Committee wrote in 2003 about this:

"The Committee accepted “that Mapeley was entitled to minimise its tax liabilities and the evidence that the avoidance of tax in this case was legal.” However, the Committee considered that “the Inland Revenue, responsible for implementing the Government’s policy of reducing tax avoidance, should of all departments have been alert to the difficulties of being party to a deal that transferred ownership of its properties to an offshore company",

So there it is, tax avoidance is all fine and dandy, providing you're HMRC. And this was in the timeframe where HMRC started investigating this scheme. Couldn't make it up!

                      Dear Taxpayer

As your name implies, it is your job to pay tax, so just get on with it. With regard to offshore arrangements do as we say, not as we do.

                      Are you bankrupt yet?

                      Yours maliciously,
