Bad News
The Committee are not going to take the matter any further. They have concluded from Timms' (non)response to their letter, that the Treasury has no intention of cooperating, and it would be a waste of their time trying to convince them otherwise.

Good News
They will produce their final report based on the information they already have. This will include the letter from Timms, their comments and final conclusions. The report will be published before Xmas, which should be in time for the JR early next year.

Whilst this may seem disappointing now, I suspect we may look back and conclude that Timms did us a massive favour by basically telling the Committee to sod off.

The Government were given the opportunity to put their side of the case, and yet they chose to say nothing. They (and HMRC) have only got themselves to blame if the Committee now produces a highly damning report.

I view this as pretty much all goods news. Timms hasnt even tried. A damning silence if ever there was one. And the committe will of course be taking the matter further, i.e in the report they produce, which will be published I assume in good time for the JR.

Suffering a bit from RSI now having emailed Anne Widdecombe, Fred Field, and the JCHR Committee.

I have forwarded all three to DR so he has a record of what I sent.

You are not alone. Several others have copied me on emails.

I think the committee would be surprised if no-one contacted them, especially after we reported how severely people would be affected.

must admit did expect something like this, but not at this early stage

very disappointed for lots of reasons, whatever way you cut it, Timms and Co got what they asked for. So whatever happens they will never be held to account.

Nonetheless, I personallly don't think this was never going to swing it for us in court, if we cannot wrap it up with what we already have I will be shocked :-)

True but it's reassuring to have an independent body scrutinise it and conclude that it stinks.

I'm sure the Judge will be aware of the JCHR's findings, and at least if he/she rules in our favour they will know that they haven't gone out on a limb.

Its easy to feel negative

Disappointing yet unsurprising that the JCHR failed to get any resposne and thus were unable to deliver any reall damming blow to Timms and his cronnies.

Will we get full access to any draft before it is issued? Are we confident that their report will nail him/them for this injustice?

I like most am facing a bill of £150K+ which I simply cannot afford and right now and resigned to losing it. Based on this any other result in our favour will be a bonus.

These shysters are a law upon themselves and its difficult not to be pessimistic and assume that any Judicial Review will involve a brown envelope and a directive that us low life hard workers simply cannot win the case. mad
