I have asked myself if I would sign this petition if I hadn't used the scheme, and hand on heart I can't say I would make the effort.

You are clearly a better person than me.

        Thank you!

Somebody at clientco (a poster on the bn66 thread) got quite a few traders to sign up! Typical comment was "happy to support freeloading scum". As long as they sign : that is what counts.

Another 4 signatures and we will be above "force highly paid bankers to pay a retrospective windfall tax"
Excellent, at least we are getting a petition that asks for retrospective taxation to be banned more signatures than one that calls for it.

Not really, when you think through the implications of retrospective legislation it's rather easy to support the cause even if you aren't directly affected. As I said on the BN66 thread I never signed up to the MontP scheme despite coming very close.
The effort required is pretty minimal too.

I'm not effected either - but if the Govt get away with this - what will they try next!

To those who argue that "These people were trying to game the system and deserve what they get": good luck to you when all your rights of substitution etc. are declared irrelevant by HMRC, and they come after you for your last ten years of dividends, expenses etc.

Then you'll hear from others who are happy to say that you were trying to game the system and deserve everything you get. Will they be correct? If not, how can you be sure you are correct now?

have signed, though not affected, and the part about rights of substitution etc in the quote above I thought was spot on. Therefore as contractors we should all be standing together and supporting each other especially in these hard economic times.
