As of now this petition has gained 3 times more signatures than any other petition created today. Good news but no reason to relax.

There is no reason why any taxpayer should not sign. S58 is a pernicious piece of legislation brought about in part by deceit between HMRC and the then Treasury Secretary.

The circumstances and reasons for this legislation are not at all "exceptional" as was claimed - in fact you can read how unexceptional they are in the papers every day, about tax avoidance by banks, corporates and Government Ministers and MPs.

What happened here was a group of people acting within the law and now being retrospectively singled out with the prospect of any remaining assets being sequestered by the state for no obvious good reason.

PLEASE forward this to everyone you know for their consideration. If this type of precedent is allowed to stand it could be your tax bill that suddenly leaps after the next budget even though you have done everything you should.

      No time to be coy

Everyone who used the scheme should sign it.

If Brillo and I can sign it, and those who know us can see we have, then there is no reason why everyone else shouldn't.

What more can HMRC or Govt do to us that they haven't done already?

The only people who I wouldn't expect to sign it are a very tiny minority who HMRC haven't caught up with so far.

I heard from an accounting friend that HMRC had tried to attack the IoM loan based scheme's but "had not managed to get anywhere". I don't have any further information - it certainly sounds interesting.
There's an elephant wondering around here...

I agree. The day we think it is harmful signing a petition is the day we become a communist state.

Everyone, please sign. And get your friends and families to aswell.

P.S. Signed and forwarded to a property developer friend

don't worry, there's no rush to get it sorted...HMRC have 8 years to mull it over and eventually they'll think of something...

once they do, they'll just introduce something in the Finance Act in 2017 and then tax it retrospectively...

Just been on the Fathers 4 Justice webbie, looking at some of the antics they've gotten up to over the years, magic. They did a fantastic job of raising the profile of Fathers denied access to their kids.

Anyone fancy starting up Taxpayers 4 Justice, kind of like a franchise protest group. I fancy a Watchmen theme, DR you could br Dr Manhattan (but you can wear jockey shorts if you like), Brillo would make a great Rorschach...

I think we should all be writing to Daniel Hannan MEP next.
