Politicians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living! -
Warning warning - user de-lurking!
Hi there everybody - been lurking for a while waiting for something 'useful' to add.
I've been with MontP since 2002 & still there, as with you guys I've got a lot riding on this - while probably not entirely ruined I did think I might like to retire one day. ..... and of course given the flexibility that independant IT consultants bring to the world I could be out of a job tomorrow, & potentially for a while to come given the complete pigs ear that is the UK economy.
Anyway... sent a version of the letter to my MP David Gauke, some may recognise him as a speaker against in the finance debate - the link to which has appearred here a number of times. His reply was to say he's contacted the treasury regarding my concerns. I admit I was hoping for something more along the lines of 'I was agin it then & I'm now actively working to overturn it' but unfortunately it was not to be. He did however include a handwritten P.s. & a copy of the transcript of the debate - which I find encouraging. I'm now thinking of a reply to urge him to be a bit more 'active' - anyone got any suggestions? I get the feeling there are some proficient letter writers out there!Comment

I haven't received any yet which is strange as I must be "enemy number one". I have written several letters to my MP and Ministers, and I've even submitted an FOI request.
Perhaps they've got a special treat in store for me. Maybe they will use the "anti-terror" laws to lock me up and throw away the key.Comment

'Tax Counsel has approved the solution in the form of a detailed written opinion.
In our opinion the solution can only be defeated by the Inland Revenue changing the law but any such change will most likely only be effective prospectively and not retrospectively.
That is why we have the confidence to GUARANTEE the savings that you will achieve.
