    Got my present today.

The latter 2 years tie up with the figures TQ sent me but I have no idea what the first assessment is all about. I joined the scheme half way through a tax year yet they are taxing me on more than any of the full years!
Perhaps they have decided I need to be doubly taxed on my Limited Co income from the first half of the tax year

I received CN for 06/07 which has been appealed by MP. Statement for 06/07 shows suspended.

As DR said, NO interest payable.
      Hi Emigre

Yes, I received a CN for 06/07 after MP provided amended figures. I'm guessing that the IR have yet to process the appeal for that year.

I agree with you on 07/08.

I also have interest for 03/04 which should have been suspended.

As my statement has an amount to pay now of £800 (which I know is wrong), I guess I just need to know what to do to stop the wheels of the debt collection people turning.

If we could publish on here what to do with these incorrect SA statements, we could save Montpelier a hell of a lot of time.

I think Montp have to do it on our behalf? Suppose we get it wrong?

Best to email NW/TQ in the usual way.

Guess you're right Brillo. I've emailed the letter to NW.

              Indeed.

I would like to know WHY HMRC and government hates small IT businesses so much?

                Anyone live in East Ham?

and have Stephen Timms as their local MP?

                http://www.stephentimms.org.uk/biography

He recently replaced Jane Kennedy as Financial Secretary to the Treasury.

He is patron of the "Christian Socialist Movement", whatever that is.

If he is your MP, perhaps you would like to write and ask him if he thinks it is fair to use legislation (retrospective or otherwise) to potentially bankrupt hundreds of families, just as we are heading into a recession.

You may also want to ask him if he is aware that HMRC are using this legislation to try and collect tax (+ interest) on income earned 7 years ago, which many people simply no longer have.

Although HMRC may carry out the dirty deed, ultimately it is his department which is responsible for this legislation.

I am a week away from the end of my current assignment with nothing in the pipeline and no sign of any improvement in the market.
I'm in the unfortunate position that if I'm out of work for 2 months I'll become insolvent regardless of bn66.

If I sought an IVA now (before the outcome of the JR) does anyone know what will happen with the tax bill when/if it becomes final. (ie I if I am already in an IVA)

It's because small IT business's are smart, efficient and we get things done.

                    The exact opposite of government.
