    Response from MP

I got a response from my MP this morning, Jeffrey Donaldson (DUP). A very big cheer for him, I only sent a letter on Tuesday. A quick background to my situation, I was being played by the revenue. They were looking to start asset seizing procedures before the 30 day appeal period was even up. They then refused to talk to Montpelier. Finally it turned out, my appeal had been 'overlooked' and Montpelier were once again listed as my agents. I wrote to HMRC to say I wouldn't be subjected to bullying and sent their letter to me and my response to it to my MP along with one of DRs letters. The response:

Thank-you for your recent correspondence regrading the severe financial difficulties that you face as a result of the retrospective legislationin Section 58 of the Finance Act 2008 which has had significant consequences for you and your family in terms of a tax demand fro HM Revenue and Customs.

I have noted carefully the points of concern that you have raised regarding the manner in which HMRC have handled this situation and the unacceptable pressure that it has placed you and your family under. In view of these concerns, I am taking this matter up on your behalf with HM Treasury in Whitehall and when I have received a response to my representations, I will be in contact with you again.

I have emailed a link to petition, to impress on him the number of people affected.

Excellent idea, and I have just emailed her with a background summary.

Now that we've got well over 300 signatures (including Geoff Jones, Arctic Systems!!!), we can start using this in correspondence with MPs.

          Reply from Ruth Kelly

Hi - just wanted to say that I received a response from my MP Ruth Kelly. She said she has written to Alistair Darling highlighting the points in my mail - maybe she did ! we shall wait and see if any further responses are forthcoming

I've worked using that part of MP through two agents that "won't touch MP" I think they don't know or are prepared to turn a blind eye so long as it isn't too obvious - afterall they don't get their cut unless people can work through them! Both times I've found if I let the guys "in that part of MP" do their stuff it all gets smoothed over beautifully....I think actually I may have been the first person they set it up for around July 2007.

I'm just speechless over the two tax stories in the paper today!

Mind you, not that speechless to post some comments about "minging Jacqui Smith" on the newspaper forums.

This is the correct link to the porn expenses story:

Wonder what her husband's website browsing habits are? Maybe we'll find out when his wife passes the law that allows the state to snoop on us.
