I initially thought one of the rules to be classed as non resident was not to be in the UK for a full tax year. In the more detailed Hector IR20 document it also states employment must last for a full tax year.
What would happen if a contract ended before the tax year but the rainy day fund could cover a period on a sunbed style bench outside of the UK ?
The example quoted seems a bit lax as it states if one employment ends and you return to the UK for a short period of time then go abroad again then HMRC would re-assess the non residency status. What if you just don't go back to the UK until well after the end of the tax year ?
Any advise appreciated.
