    Going perm after 24 months

I'm in the first renewal of my contract, which is due to finish just short of my being at the same location for 24 months.

I know that if I renew again future and previous tax deductions will become invalid, but what I'm wondering is, if I accept a permie position at that point will it still invalidate the tax deductions I've had as a contractor, as I would be continuing at the same location.

EDIT: I'm working through a brolly

    Any help appreciated.

As soon as you know it's becoming a permanent workplace, you have to stop claiming.

It would seem then, that you have to stop claiming as soon as you've accepted a job offer.

Until then the normal 24 month etc. rules apply.

Is it the only contract you've ever undertaken? My understanding was that you can't claim expenses for only one contract (you need the intention to work more than one contract or something like that)

If you can convince the judge that you intended it to be temporary, you'd be ok. Could be difficult if it was your first contract. Regardless of whether it was through a brolly or not.

Maybe if they could prove you intended to either retire or kill yourself at the end of the contract.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.
