In my last assignment I had to get a letter from my brolly stating that I would only be paid via PAYE before the agency would agree to sign the contract.
Which is indeed what the "agency in Warrington" do as you are fully taxed on the income you receive from them.
The rival DMS/Cascade scheme have to sign the same agreement and that isn't the problem. The problem is, all the agencies and end clients, Barclays amongst them, know who "the agency in Warrington" are (MTM or whatever they're called these days).
They could try being sneaky and set up another company somewhere else but I guess sooner or later they'd get found out again.Comment

Okay! Okay! There are alot of posts here!
montp not received many closures so far - regional offices not doing as told - HMRC lead office not happy. montp not happy as closure notices should not go out until after JR sorted!
Lets face it though - its a bit of a sideshow. Personally I want to see the date for the JR. I know quite a few here are thinking of attending - might be good for us all to meet up? I am in two minds about this - a friend of mine met with a few on the scheme one night - and everyone just succeeded in depressing one another! This should be an opportunity to support one another!

Good point about post getting lost, it does happen. I moved house a couple of months ago, I did inform Hector and I have set up a redirection but stuff can still go missing.
Anyone know how many closure notices MontP have received so far?Comment

Closure Notice
I want to call somebody to find out if my closure notice has been sent. Don't want to risk it going missing and missing the appeal date. HMRC systems are terrible at keeping individual's data in one place. I've moved house a lot and I still get letters from different offices being sent to different addresses...
I heard that the closure notices are sent out by local offices. Is that right? If so - how do I find out my local office? Probably who the tax returns are sent to?Sunt Lacrimae RerumComment

Mine was sent by the local office. You should be able to identify who they are from any correspondence you have recived other than in regard to the investigation. Not sure I would ask though. Perhaps you could ask when they expect to complete their investigations - its taken n years with no apparent progress...Join the No To Retro Tax Campaign Now
