    Who are best "value"?

Hiscox seem to be comparable price wise to the CUK linked provider

    Any pointers?

I use Randell Dorling - or some name like that, was the best price at the time for the cover I needed, also you get a discount if you are with PCG

Best rates - but only for IT contractors

I have spent ages looking around - <snip> are offering the best rates - better thsn PCG for Professioanl Indemnity of £120 for annual cover up to £250k. They can also provide Public Liability insurance. Rates get even better for higher coverage.

Using Randall Dorling for a new policy to start next week, about £200 for PII through the PCG.

I used to be with Randall Dorling but switched to <snip> because the premiums were lower

My unbiased view on actually using this scheme

Just wanted write my experience of using Denovo Solar, ITS, Fidei for the past 6 months. I will list the pros and cons as a lot of the above I have read is rather speculative and biased towards individual perceptions.

On reading the background of the guy it would bring me to question Steven Lawrence but then everyone trusted Bernie Madoff and look what happened. Just because something seems right doesn't mean it is and vice-versa.

                    Pros
                    • I have been using this for 6 months with no glitches
                    • I do get back 85% of all my earnings
                    • I still pay tax in the correct manner
                    • I still pay NI in the correct manner
                    • Money returned to me is classed as a commercial loan and not a company discretionary loan (EBT - Employee Benefits Trust). EBT's are being scrutinised and I know of people who have had to pay their money back (friend had to pay 12k to Inland Revenue because he stopped using the scheme - which means he left the company and they had not ensured the loan benefit continued after his departure, so check yours).
                    • I don't have any paperwork, Companies House audits, accounts to deal with

                    Cons
                    • It took a while to work out what was going on behind the scenes as there are quite a few companies involved in this scheme.
                    • With no prior recommendation from anyone it took time to get started, but was up and running in about 2 months.
                    • The web interface is crap and prone to errors at the moment it has a conflict with setting expenses payments on the same week as a consulting payment which is stopping my timesheets getting to the system
                    • It does seem like you could also buy a car from some of the guys you deal with, but then I am not from Essex and would I trust someone with an Etonian accent more? (I didn’t go to Eton either)

All I can say is I have used this scheme successfully for enough time that I can recommend it. It is not the smoothest operation I will admit but I always get paid on time, they are productive in answering my queries and I get 85% of all my money and don’t have to lift a finger or speak to an accountant (winner).
