    taxi fares

do you ask all taxi drivers to give you a receipt?
I don't get round to it, usually as I'm a bit drunk as I take taxis home from the pub
do HMRC ask what the journeys were for? could you say you were taking taxis to attend meetings at one of the client's other offices?

    Always, always, always.

Make sure - if they write it out - that the tip is included too.

Personally, I write on every receipt where the journey was from and to, plus the date and amount if the driver didn't write it.

If you don't want to worry about accounting for them in an inspection, just don't claim the ones you cannot defend as business expenses.
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.
