Seriously I can't recommend NW enough and have done both on other posts here and to other contractors in RL.

I've been with them for over a year now and found them to most helpful (even to some of my dumb newbie questions) and very proactive when necessary.

    Value for money too IMHO.
Eeyore was very glad to be able to stop thinking for a little, in order to say "How do you do" in a gloomy manner to Pooh.
"And how are you?" said Winnie-the-Pooh.
Eeyore shook his head from side to side. "Not very how," he said. "I don't seem to felt at all how for a long time."

Another vote for Nixon Williams. I am very happy with them and they provide great value for money, would not hesitate to fully recommend their services.

They didn't do the direct account when we signed up, however when we chatted it over we decided we are better off paying charges and getting more interest
        Thanks.

I am looking into page 9 of the PDF you linked.
I am not sure if the price there is promotional price for 18 months or will apply there after.

I think I will have to give them a call.

w3bdEw, I would strongly recommend that you hesitate before selecting your accountant and have a look at the PCG Accredited Accountant list before you make a decision.

          http://www.pcg.org.uk/cms/index.php?...969&Itemid=495

I experienced many problems with a non-PCG-accredited accountant who is prominent on this forum, and the PCG accreditation system was set up to help contractors avoid such problems. And…it works - my PCG-accredited accountant, who I won’t name, assisted me greatly in correcting errors from the old regime and so far the service has been error-free. I know because I check everything.
So please don’t make the same mistake that I made – ignore accountancy services that hawk their wares on forums such as this and use the PCG Accredited Accountants list. Why would you not? You’ll be glad you did!

            Thank you Mods.

Thank you Silas, had a quick look and emailed my questions to a few accountants.

Thank you all for your help, recommendations, pointers and reminders.

I have decided to go with Darren @ Upton on a couple of personal recommendations and after contacting him directly. (being local is a plus)

                Thank you
i don't use NW due to them sending out so much spam. There is a level of responsibility needed to operate a biz, and authorising direct marketing to every director registered at Companies House puts a big line through their name on my short list.

Re Qdos, they are fantastic, and their freelancer helpline is very useful. A great bunch of people! and they don't send out direct marketing to me!

                Cheers, richy

Er, I don't use them and have no vested interest but, I am a company director and have never received this spam...

To the best of my knowledge they only send mail to people that have registered with their site. I didn't get any mail for a long time, then I registered with them and then I got the mail. I find the newsletter interesting as it happens. I also get emails from SJD, again because I registered with their site. I'm a grown up, I can handle it.

It probably takes less time to phone/email them to get taken off the their mailing list than to post complaints. They are very polite, they won't be nasty to you.

Me neither. Never so much as a peep.

Lot's of people with hidden agendas or axes to grind methinks. Alan seems to qualify as a hoopy frood who knows where his towel is, and if I ever get hacked off with PlanIT (which is unlikely given my experiences with them to date), I'd be happy to check out Alan's mob purely for the way he answers the flack on this forum.
