Just running a small survey among a group of contractors. All bar one so far agree with me. The one thinks you were being hopelessly naive. Think I'll let it run a bit longer though, just in case opinions change.

I just did an small survey amongst a group of contractors DR, SD and me. It was 100% that we are going to win. But we will buy you a beer and a spin in a DB9!

yes and Im sure you were totally impartial in the way u described it and didnt put certain ideas or thoughts into their heads...What demographic profile do these people have apart from being contractors

I thought u were staying away from this thread as firstly, it doesnt affect you, secondly you are in a moral argument which is not what this is about its covered elsewhere, and thirdly you said you were staying away.

The late 90's removed any hope of maintaining contractors respect in the eyes of the government, and they kicked back with IR35....Long before this scheme was around..

If you want to talk politics, IR35 was also partly introduced because certain people in high up places were buddies with large consultancy companies who wanted to shut down the independent contractor market in a bid to win ALL public and private sector contracts.

Or perhaps it's becuase we've spent several years trying to sell the idea that contractors (not just IT ones either) are a third way of working different to Employer and Employee and we don't really want publicity over a case where a small group of contractors appear to be demanding the right to ignore UK taxation law - which is how it will appear in the Press, regardless of right or wrong.

Plus I started out trying to help, but since you are determined to ignore the advice I did offer, I simply dropped back to being Malvolio. Way more fun anyway.

not insinuating he is a pig of course, but there is a slight hint of convincing the troops of a certain view to protect ones own interest, in the same way Napoleon did in animal farm...
