    Self-employment for EU nationals

Hi, I am a Romanian working in UK using a company that caused me lots of troubles and I want to become self-employed.

    I don't have any work permit and I believe I don't need one for becoming self-employed. I also don't have a NIN.

I found lots of information on Home Office, HMRC, UK Border etc and I got lost between the tons of links.

What I need is a place to start. I need somebody to help me figure out what I have to do.

I imagine I might have to find an accountant, or maybe call Home Office or maybe I should do something else?

Any idea? Anybody that went through all this?

    Thanks a lot.

I'm assuming that you're working as a contactor, or intend to. In which case, you'll most likely need to work through an agency. In which case, you won't be working self employed.

As regards setting up your own company

    http://www.workpermit.com/uk/work_permit/who_needs.htm

"In addition to these categories of people, nationals of European Community Association Agreement countries (Bulgaria and Romania) may come to the UK to set up in business and are exempt from the usual investment requirements. There is a very high refusal rate for this type of visa, however"
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!
