For anyone worried about bankruptcy over this kind of debt check out this HMRC link. It mentions payment terms of upto 3 years and also there are cases where additional time over and above 3 years is granted. I would have thought the amounts we are dealing with here probably qualify for this kind of treatment. I hope this helps alleviate any fears of bankruptcy after 3 months....

look at Accruing liabilities – SA cases in this link:

Do people still feel this discussion is serving any useful purpose or are we just whipping ourselves into a frenzy over something that's out of our control? I would hate to think that this thread was driving people to the likes of Warr & Co before we've even give MontP a fair chance.

Someone once said to me that there is no point worrying about anything that might happen in the future unless you can do something about it. When I first started this thread it was with the intention of trying to influence the Bill going through parliament. As it turned out this was a bit futile but nevertheless it was worth a try. However, we are passed this stage and there is now very little we can do to affect the outcome of the case.

I think it's sensible that people discuss contingency plans for the worst case scenario. This is an area where you can do something positive now. But is there any point in endlessly speculating about what may or may not happen in the courts?

Is it time to ditch this discussion?
I dont disagree, I think in some respects I would rather not have known!! Im not sure if we are just all increasing tension with no clear idea on whats going to happen...and all this worry might be in vain...Im hoping we will all look back and say "jeez, remember when we were all so worried what might happen"

I would like to see a new thread with just proper news updates and no discussions. Any chance you could 'moderate' one of the topics to remove the 'I told you so' cr*p.

personally, this forum still gives me some comfort.

            Who is "you"? Admin? Mod?

Why not create a list of what you think are important posts and put them on a new thread?

I would like proper news updates from montp. Everything here is second-hand and so open to speculation.

I am also awaiting the "official BN66 judicial review" thread.

The thing is though you can only bury your head in the sand for so long, and there is no getting away from the fact that the brown envelopes will be dropping through our letterboxes in a few weeks time. Personally, I would rather be prepared for this than be caught completely off guard. In this instance I don't subscribe to the "ignorance is bliss" school of thought.

I wonder how many people know the tax assessments are coming or have any idea what their overall liability might be? I bet some families are in for a very nasty surprise!

Do you think the demands will come in July, haven't Montpellier only just given HMRC the accounts - surely it will take them months rather than weeks to sort out the demands

thats what I would have thought too. Im sort of guessing here that MontP will try and sort the JR prior to, or very close to the assessments landing. At least they might then have some news for scheme users one way or another....

Ive created a new thread for news and snippets...Can we keep it to an info thread as discussed. We can debate any salient points on this thread....

MontP have got until the end of July to submit the accounts. I may be wrong but I can't see HMRC hanging about to issue tax assessments. Having got their shiny new legislation they will be under pressure to get their fingers out.

My expectation is that tax assessments will arrive in August, so 6-8 weeks from now.
