    Moving Business Premises

    The registered address of my ltd co is my home address.

    I'm moving house and would like to expense the removal costs. Is there a formula I can use to calculate how much I'll be able to expense. Obviously I'd like to claim the full costs but appreciate that thsi might be a bit cheeky

    Claim what you like, you may have to defend your decision with HMRC.

      Unless you are getting charged per box or per item moved (furniture) then it'll fall foul of duality of purpose as you've got to move anyway.

      If the quote is for x home boxes, 10 office boxes - £20 per box then you could expense £200 but I severly doubt that will be the case.

        We've got a quote for the whole house move.

        I thought that it would be similar to the costs you could expense for running your company from your home. I can't remember the exact formula but it was based on the number of rooms etc.

          Tax Evasion...

          Unless of course, YourCo owns the house, pays business rates on it and charges you rent for living in it. And if so, I hope you've remembered to keep the CGT liability back for payment at year end.

            Fair enough. I suspected that it wouldn't be look upon favourably (hence my cheeky quip). It wouldn't end up saving me a great deal anyway.

              Your Co might be able to rent a van. To move the office. Then just cunninly pay BIK for use of the van to move your own stuff.

              So its BIK on 3500/365 = £9.58

              So tax of about £2.
