      I don't think this is routine health and safey, I think this has come up because of recent court case where after an accident a company was held responsible for the state of its workers cars. Can't remember any of the details.

        Do you ever give any of the permies a lift in your car to the other sites? If so, they could argue they are only looking after their own staff.

          There was a survey by the FSB a couple of months back that found something like 60% of employees drive on company business without appropriate insurance - and highlighted the fact that the employer has a duty of care to ensure that employees have suitable cars and insurance cover. I think this may be the trigger for all this sudden interest in the issue.
          Plan A is located just about here.
          If that doesn't work, then there's always plan B
