Working in a tax free State for a year

Hyperthetically thinking.....

If you were to contract in a tax free State, like Dubai for instance, for 12 months would you be allowed to bring all your earnings back into the UK tax free at the end of the contract? On the assumption that you have been living outside of the UK for 12 months in your tax year?

As long as you meant THE tax year. An individual can't make up their own 12 month tax year (like you can as a company).
