    Choosing the right accountant

    Hi

I am currently using an Umbrella agency but after reading this great thread I have decided to become Limited.

Can anyone recommend a good London-based accountant - or the best way to find one? I have looked on the ICAWE site but I am not sure what sector to filter my search by - taxation, small company, limited gains, etc.

    Anyone have any opinions?

    Thanks,

    Ian

Why does it need to be based in London? There are many companies offering limited co accountancy services but for the best possible service, make sure that your chosen accountant has an excellent understanding of the contractor market.
Larger providers such as SJD generally come recommended, but if you want to PM me l'd be happy to talk you through what you should expect from a specialist provider
I suggest you talk to 2 or 3 and go with whoever you feel most comfortable with.

I'm not going SJD with my new company. I find they are too expensive when you factor in all the 'add-ons' which don't come as part of the standard contractor conveyor-belt package...

                Older and ...well, just older!!

                  Hi,

I'm considering using SJD as an acccountant. Could you give me a few examples of the "add-ons" you're talking about?

                  Cheers,
                  Kev

SJD Add-ons? Not had any yet but then I do most of the work myself. I just provide a TB and copies of bank statements at year end for the preparation of final accounts and CT calculation.
