thanks for doing us a favour. Keep doing dodgy things like this and keeping the HMRC busy so they do not come after genuine contractors like myself who play by the line.

In more seriousness, do some research and get our habits in order. I also feel that you have been preyed on by dodgy umbrella companies.

Do u also claim back £26 pounds when your mrs or mom packs ur tuna sandwich for lunch?

and I feel that your an idiot. i understand that I CAN claim the full subsistence
Without producing a receipt. i understand it's wise to keep most if not all my receipts as i have been told by my accountant several times, which i do attempt to do, and i also understand that averaging £20 a day on food is very easily done, especially when you don’t have time to cook. Full English £5 with a coffee, lunch at pub usually at least £10 with pint, and then dinner - £8-10 quid, then you got to look at snacks that add up.

    You get me!!!!

You've quoted twics as saying you "claim £26 per day" - you say you keep your receipts [ as many as possible ] but you don't say your expenses come to £26 exactly per day every day.

Don't get all arsey just 'cos you can't explain yourself proper like.

        no, you are wrong.

i understand that I CAN claim the full subsistence - only if you can provide a reciept for every penny you are claiming.

If you claim £26 per day and can only produce £10 worth of reciepts, the guys at the HMRC will ask you to explain the rest - if you can't, then they'll assume you haven't really spent that money, and if you haven't then it's fraud pure and simple.

Do not pass go, do not collect £200s...

Do the bus company charge you double for taking up 2 seats on the bus?

Most days I spend that give or take a few quid, but i do try keeping my receipts like i said. there aint nothing stopping me claiming the full sub without a receipt except my own conscious, so i aint wrong. I don’t know whether you keep all your receipts, for everyday and every transaction, but I end up loosing the odd one.
So what would happen if I was like £3 unaccounted for?
Would they just demand i pay tax on that £3????

but since your name relates to food, maybe you have a similar agreement if you take a bus?

Yes, if that was the only one.

Unaccounted reciepts could be the trigger for a more "in depth" investigation, and it's not just the tax - they can fine you, and if they were really nasty, you could get done for fraud - is it really worth it ?

This proves that infact, you're an idiot, and a big one too.

i guess what you lack upstairs only proves that you may have been kicked in the head a few times.

                      Yep - just your conscience.

And the tax man, who will screw you royally if you are caught claiming business expenses that you do not incur. If you are a couple of receipts short, then you should be OK. If you have claimed £26 a day / £500 a month ad infinitum, without receipts (as you have implied three times now), then there is more to stop you - if you are investigated, then you will be done for fraud.

There is a difference between what you say in this post ("I end up loosing [sic] the odd one") and earlier in this thread ("you can claim the 26 squid sub, so i do")
