Because I started work at the client side without signing a contract first since I went to the interview on Friday and started on Monday.

Ok..so work was done. I would expect you will get paid for this. Remember the agency gets a cut ..so good for them.

In order to receive the payment from the agency will I need to sign a contract at any point?

Will the tax man ask my how come I received that money without any contract?

Just stick the money into your Ltd, pay the taxes due on it and move on.
