    Collecting Vat for first time!!

    Hi,

I recently gained approval to go onto the flat rate scheme.
Upto now I have claimed nearly 4 months worth of invoices minus the VAT element no problem.
I have sent a copy of the letter from the Revenue stating that I have been accepted and a vat number clearly displayed. There is even a phone number to ring them.
The agency are saying that this is not a certificate and they are not sure if they can pay me the vat on just this letter.
I think this is just a delaying tactic as all the info is available in this letter.
I along with many other newbies I suspect have to pay a large proportion of this money by 31st August so time is ticking.

Are they correct or just delaying payment??

    Thanks in advance!!

I think you should have also received a certificate of VAT registration. Because of the delays in processing registration, looks like you may have gotten your FRS approval before your cert...
It's about time I changed this sig...

We had to submit a copy of the VAT certificate with all invoices we were claiming back tax on.

you'll need the cert otherwise you could just be trying to rip them off...
