    Avoiding cost of umbrella

I'm starting a contract on Monday for three months and I was planning to use an umbrella but not claim dubious travel/food expenses. So isn't it worth trying instead to get put on the company pay roll to at least avoid the umbrella fee? I did this at the BBC once. They made me a temp for a couple of months.

Top tip: Avoid the hassle of being a contractor by being an employee instead.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

          Why not claim expenses???

Silly question I know but as long as you don't take the p155 you are ok to claim.....

Definitely worth a try, if that's what you want.

there is nothing dubious about claiming subsistence, as long as you have incurred the expenditure and its legitimate business travel.

There are too many self-interested parties on here trying to flog PSCs - don't believe everything you read!
