best bet to while away time is Nintendo DS, about £100, then M3 DS Simply mod chip about £25, then 2GB Micro SD Card, about £13 = £140.

Then you can copy unlimited 'homebrew' games onto SD card.

Failing that, cheapest 3g deal is T-Mobile sim-only sim - £7.50/mth for sim + 75 minutes, then £7.50/mth for unlimited data. Use it in a Windows Mobile 6 phone, and can also use as a modem connected to a laptop. Best phone atm is http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=256569 (though not actually released yet)

if you are interested in homebrew get an old one that hasn't had the firmware upgraded.
