Pay for a Business Bank Account ?

I am going to open my Ltd bank account.

With Barclays they will be charging me monthly min 15 pounds , whereas my personal account with them is free of fees. They say, the business account comes with some consulting which I don’t know if I need. After all I only need this account to get paid, not consulted.

Could I just use another free bank account for an Ltd ?

    Thanks.

PS. Great , I should try harder now. 100 posts.

Of course you can. I use HSBC, many use Carter Allen, more than a few seem to like Lloyds. If they aren't offering a year's free banking to a new customer, walk away. Barclays are rapidy losing the plot anyway...

      Bank Accounts

Avoid Barclays for biz accounts, they're very expensive especially when there are far better banks with no charges.

The Cater Allan accounts are decent but no online banking just yet, Alliance & Leicester free banking and good rates of interest (just set one up there myself), Abbey/HSBC no charges and the usual facilities.

I saw the Carter Allen free option , but couldn't find internet banking on their site which I see as a bottom line these days..

It's been vapourware for a long time, although I hear a rumour someone is now beta-testing it so it should be on its way. However I agree, I can't run without internet banking, now matter how good the telephone support (and CA's is very good indeed)

Have to agree with Mal, CA's service is very good....just can't wait until the online system is up & running.

I have A/c with HSBC and I can vouch for them. Their Bus a/c facility is free for 18 months and thereafter £3 monthly fee. They rock.

Use Nat West, the service is fine and the 12 months free banking has turned in to 5 years! They keep on writing to me to say, now we really are going to start charging you soon, but they can't deliver on their promise
