Parliament to debate increasing the mileage rate

I doubt anything will come of it but you never know...

Not a chance. At the time of the petition petrol hit aroun 1.91. It's now back down to 1.44 so down 28% or so. Petrol was 1.31 when the AMAP went up to 45p. It's only 9% higher now (and falling). Granted other aspects of driving have gone up such as insurance but many insurance providers allowed a cash back if you did way under the mileage over lockdown so there isn't really much of a compelling argument to increase.

Let's face it, it's another fiscal drag.

I suppose some people still claim this ... but don't most use hire cars for business travel and re-claim actuals anyway?
