Buy to Let mortgage upfront fee tax deductible?

I vaguely remember that if you pay for the BTL mortgage financing fee in cash as apposed to it becoming part of the mortgage , then it can be an expense against the BTL income on the personal tax submission on the Self Assessment.

    Can someone please confirm

Yes you report as an expense but it's a finance arrangement fee so only the usual 20% credit to be applied after it is treated 100% as revenue.

    Thanks George Osborne.
