I have no connection to this website but I would like to give a big positive recommendation for Quickfile.
Now it isn't going to be suitable for everyone and all circumstances. But since seeing it mentioned here a while ago, I have run my side hustle limited company accounts through it. It's really very, very good for a no cost product. I was surprised how good it was. Almost as good as Freeagent.
I have recently completed my Companies House and Corporation Tax returns directly on the gov.uk portal using the numbers from Quickfile. All the numbers for corporation tax and profit/loss, chart of accounts etc. All worked perfectly. There's comprehensive reports available as standard in the website interface.
Being a new user to the Quickfile website I kept everything in parallel on spreadsheets but I needn't have. I would rely on it just fine from now on.
Doing the journal entries for Corporation Tax accounting at the year end were a bit of a surprise, they aren't obviously required. But the knowledge base and support forum are excellent once my head scratching got me going in the right direction. There is a great walk through so that complete non accounting numpties like me can close out the annual accounts properly. I did this with zero prior accounting experience. Very impressive really.
So - For a dead simple limited company business like mine, in my case with no payroll or VAT, Quickfile is not only free, it's absolutely spot on. Very impressed.
