Opinion? IMHO

1. They probably can't tell the difference between a Ltd Co and an employee, and are not interested in thinking about it. They are wrong. Is that the most important question for you?

2. They don't have a legal requirement to see your passport. They have a right to ask, in the sense that anyone has the right to ask; but not to insist. You have a right not to show it to them. They have a right not to give you the contract if they don't want to.

Actually chaps, they do have a legal requirement (see reccon's comments here )

And since an agent will be breaking the law if they don't ask you, you might find yourself on the bench for longer than you expected.....:lol

Birth certicate and other documents are valid as well. They just need proof of your right to work in the UK.
