Guest repliedActually chaps, they do have a legal requirement (see reccon's comments here )
And since an agent will be breaking the law if they don't ask you, you might find yourself on the bench for longer than you expected.....:lol

Guest repliedOpinion? IMHO
1. They probably can't tell the difference between a Ltd Co and an employee, and are not interested in thinking about it. They are wrong. Is that the most important question for you?
2. They don't have a legal requirement to see your passport. They have a right to ask, in the sense that anyone has the right to ask; but not to insist. You have a right not to show it to them. They have a right not to give you the contract if they don't want to.

Guest started a topic agency want to see passportagency want to see passport
I contacted a reputable agency advert about a position and after speaking to them for a while they then told me that they want a copy of my passport for their records. I questioned them on it and they muttered something about the temporary employment act (or something).
Now I supply services through a LTD company, and I can obviously I really wanted to , send someone else to full fill the client requirements. So what use is them seeing my passport?
Naturally I refused, I don't think they have legal right to see my passport for a contract between two companies.
What's everyone's opinion on this. This is the first agency that has asked for this.
