    Buying IT equipment

    When buying (legitimate) business IT equipment i.e. a laptop, PC or PDA, do you have more protection if you buy it personally and then claim it thru expenses over buying direct in the company name? This is not about Tax it's about cover if the item is faulty especially when buying from an internet retailer.

    Do you still have more protection if you pay witha personal credit card?

    How do the panel buy these things?

    TIA

      Personal = more consumer protection.

      But there is a question over reclaiming VAT when the vatable chain is broken. Generally contract in compnay name and pay with personal credit card and expense it. At least this way you get S75 of the consumer credit act which effectively gives the same protection as the sale of goods act by making the card issuer jointly and serverally liable. Of course it has to be a credit card.

        Thanks ASB that's what I thought. Plus FRVS and individual items will be less than £2K anyway.
