Redudancy payment via Umbrella that is closing down

    Hi All
I am part of an Umbrella company (have been on their Payroll since 2010) and have left as the Scheme (like many others) is under investigation by the HMRC.
The amounts for all tax years upto and including 2016/2017 are being currently finalized , but as the scheme is closing in a month, they have offered to offset 30k of the 2017/2018 bill as a 30k Redundancy payment (assuming 30k is still owed by them or 30k has been paid back towards the loan before April 5th)
To me it open ups a whole load of can of worms on whether they were a legitimate employee (Holidays Sick Pay etc), but the runners of the scheme think its all above board as the HMRC have accepted the PAYE element of the scheme

Any view or solid opinions would be appreciated

    Thanks

My opinion is this is posted in the wrong forum. You need to make sure it’s looked at by people who know schemes.

What you describe sounds dodgy as f*** but then all schemes do, so that’s not a surprise.
