With most of the providers you can only open an account via post which is annoying.

Really annoying this postal thing when you are trying to keep half a million quid safe :

Do you have to have instant access or could you survive if you locked the money away for 12 or 24 months (maybe longer)? Better rates to be had if you can either give notice to withdraw or not touch it at all for a while.

I have already have fixed accounts with Nationwide and Aldermore. I just want to keep some in easy access in case any investment opportunity comes along.

Yes it's annoying since everything is done online now. Banks could reduce their overhead switching to online system.

I called them today to report the problem. They were aware of the problem. Hopefully they will resolve it soon.

Doesn't inspire confidence, does it? It is a competitive rate, though, especially for a business savings account.

No it doesn't. It shouldn't be hard to fix a simple issue like this. When I tried to report the problem, they wanted my IP address even though they were aware of the problem.

Yes, I was able to open a account with them. Has anyone used United Bank UK? They seems to be offering good rates for easy access account.
